So, I have some exciting news (to me, at least). After almost six years with the same look, A Cup of Jo is getting a long overdue makeover. The Brooklyn-based design firm Apartment One came highly recommended, and I was thrilled to collaborate with their uber-talented team, Liza and Spencer. The new design will launch in a couple weeks. Meanwhile, I'd love to ask you a question! After our first meeting, the designers presented me with four potential looks. Please tell me your favorite look (and, if you'd like, guess which one we ended up choosing). Here are the four options...

ReplyDeleteOption #4 Handwritten suits your blog the best. The round profile photo coordinates subtly with the balloon in your header, and the casual hand is lackadaisical & fun! I also think the colors are updated, but still reflect your original theme. Whichever one you pick, congrats on the renovations!

I think I would like the handwritten one best if the handwriting was different (not sure if that makes sense). The letters look a little thick -- almost like too much ink was coming out of the pen. And I don't like how it goes from printing to cursive and back again. (A little child like :/ ).

I think the ivory is by far the best looking. It's chic and the balloon really pops (no pun intended).
ReplyDeleteI can only 3 three options in Firefox (1,2 and 3). In IE, the handwriting option appears as as red X (like a missing jpg). Of those three that I can see, I most like #3, Sky. I would love to see the Handwriting one as well though.

Love the layout and clean lines of #3, the simple but not rigid typeface and the ombre effect of the image.
ReplyDeleteLike the typeface of #1 as well. Not really into the ivory frame of #2 or the typeface. The #4 typeface really bugs me (my husband is a typography teacher), but it is "cute." Looking good though! What fun! xo
