ReplyDeleteyes! I've been looking forward to this ever since I watched the trailer on NPR. It looks like my favorite kind of movie - funny and sincere and a little sad at the same time (kind of like The Beginners!)
ReplyDeleteI just got tickets for a super-cool showing with IRA GLASS at a old music hall here in Upstate NY. Can't wait!
ReplyDeletethere is a 3 day weekend calling my name and i think this is just the thing to fill it...an afternoon, at least :)

ReplyDeleteOh yes... would go see this simply because I LOVE Carol Kane in anything she does.
ReplyDeleteMan! Mike Birbiglia and Ira Glass...how could you say no to that?
ReplyDeleteAwesome...And the whole 'rivalry' with Avenger's director is hillarious. Just read about it on the movie's website. Thanks for the recommendation! xoxo

ReplyDeleteI have been wanting and wanting to watch this, so I'm glad it comes with high recommendations! ;) x

ReplyDeleteI saw it last night and loved it! Plus there were so many This American Life regular cameos!
ReplyDeleteI saw it last Saturday at the IFC and it was great! Ira and Mike were also there for a Q&A after the movie - they have such great chemistry and are both so funny!
ReplyDeleteIt's based on his book (of the same name) which is also hilarious - I highly recommend it!!
ReplyDeleteKeeping my fingers crossed it comes to Ann Arbor!
ReplyDeleteMike B. and Ira Glass are two great people! Mike has Sleepwalk with Me as a book and as a full stand-up!
Definitely want to see it. Thanks! Love funny movies.

ReplyDeleteWish it was playing more in Chicago! All of the tickets for this weekend are already sold out!
ReplyDeletelooks brilliant! i hope it comes out here in Switzerland soon - would love to watch it!
ReplyDeleteLooks great. There aren't enough smart comedies out there, so I especially love when one comes along.
ReplyDeleteI want to see this so bad and hope it comes to Sacramento. The CD that this movie is based on with his standup is on Spotify and I have listened to it twice and laughed my butt of each time....and I have a big butt!
ReplyDeleteI'm seeing it on Friday in Berkeley - can't wait!!
ReplyDeleteSo happy to see this post! My husband was the editor on this film! And you are one of my favorite blogs! And any publicity for the movie is great! I might be biased but it's a great film!
ReplyDeleteGonna see it tomorrow. Mike Birbiglia is so funny it hurts. Can't wait!
ReplyDeletethis looks really cute. love that lauren ambrose is coming back into the picture.. she also has a series coming out on A&E called "coma" which looks..... oddly terrifying.
ReplyDeleteWe're huge Birbiglia fans. "What I Should Have Said Was Nothing" (you can stream it on Netflix) is so good! I'll definitely be seeing this.
ReplyDeleteHow do I not know about this film? Probably because I'm in Australia! Must find where/when to see this. Great recommendation Joanna.
ReplyDeleteDid you ever see his off-bway show this was based off? It was phenomenal! I had no idea there was a movie now - I can't wait to see it!
ReplyDeleteWe're going to the screening in Chicago tomorrow night. Ira Glass and Mike Birbiglia will be there to talk about the movie. It's going to be an awesome time!
ReplyDeleteYes yes yes! I'm going to see it this weekend in Dallas!
ReplyDeleteI saw it at a film festival a few months ago and it was amazing! You're right, it seems like a rom com, but it is so genuine. And Ira was there - serious celeb crush on that man. I'm going to see it again tomorrow and can't wait.
ReplyDeleteooh DELIGHTFUL. must see!
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary!
ReplyDeletethis is a lovely post and I think you got a good egg with Alex. I love what he said about not expecting that 'nothing bad is ever going to happen."
(my husband and I recently celebrated our 2nd anniversary on the very same day i had to have brain surgery. Life is hard but its better when you share it with the right people.)
One thing my wonderful partner has done during a disagreement - he's stopped and said "I know, ultimately, you don't mean to hurt me... but that was hurtful. So I want to give you the chance to say that again, if you didn't mean it to come out that way."
who talks like that?!?
Its change the way I "fight", that's for sure.
Awwwww!
ReplyDeleteThis movie looks so good and sweet and watch-worthy.
I definitely hope that I can go see it sometime (maybe with a few girlfriends) :)
Yay for rom-coms!!

I LOVED this book; will be so excited to see the movie.
ReplyDeletemike birbiglia's story on the moth a few years ago about breaking up with this girl he was engaged to inspired me to end my 3.5 year relationship that i was terrified to end (but i knew it needed to happen...). i am seeing this movie on saturday and i CANNOT WAIT.
ReplyDeleteI made the mistake of listening to his standup skit about this while I was driving and I nearly ended up in the ditch, I was laughing so hard. You'll never look at a La Quinta Inn or read about Walla Walla Washington without laughing ever again. Cant' wait for the movie!
ReplyDeleteI heard "Sleepwalk With Me" on "This American Life" about 5 years ago. I loved it then, love it now. Can't wait to see it!! There is a whole Mike Birbiglia tab on the "This American Life" iPhone app, it's the best pick me up!
ReplyDeleteHis book is one of my all time favorites! It almost makes me want to NOT see the movie, for fear it would be different than how I picture it in my head.
ReplyDeleteThis looks absolutely wonderful! I'll definitely have to check it out soon.
ReplyDeleteI want to see it! Thanks for another great recommendation Joanna
